“Hey guys, great work, we really appreciate the effort. Could you do us only one favor? Yeah, try not to look too dotingly at each other? Or like you want to rip each other’s clothes off? Could we maybe try and work also on not making this too heavy on the subtext? Your characters are friends, guys, remember, they’re not in love. Yeah, Misha, don’t stare too long at him anymore and Jensen, could you not look like you’re checking him out every two minutes? Great, guys, this is good, see, we’re all working together!”

And then maybe they wouldn’t be so surprised when people ship Dean/Cas.
