This moment hurt like hell. Can you imagine how desperate, how hurt, how crippled he must have been to ask God for a sign, when he knows God, HIS FATHER, isn’t going to answer? God did nothing, not a single thing, for the entire apocalypse, while his children ran around destroying everything, but Cas hopes he’ll answer now?

Cas knows he won’t, but he has to try anyway. And then he gets confirmation that everyone has abandoned him. Dean, Sam, his brothers, and his own father, when he needed him most.
